NAFC STAFF RETURN FROM NORWEGIAN FACT FINDING MISSION
A team from the NAFC Marine Centre’s Marine Science and Technology department has just returned from a fact finding mission to Norway where some salmon farming companies are using Ballan wrasse as ‘cleaner fish’ to control sea lice levels on salmon farms in a natural and sustainable way. more

 

SHETLAND AQUACULTURE PRODUCERS ORGANISATION CHARTS NEW COURSE TO BENEFIT THE SECTOR

SHETLAND SALMON FARMERS ASSOCIATION WELCOMES FUNDING PACKAGE

Shetland Salmon Farmers’ Association has welcomed this week's announcement that it has secured £87,500 grant assistance from the EU Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) programme and Scottish Executive funds to promote and market Shetland salmon.

SHETLAND HOSTS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL AQUACULTURE CONFERENCE

Over 70 people from the aquaculture industry, its controlling bodies and the wider community took part in the Shetland Aquaculture Conference at the Clickimin Centre in Lerwick, this weekend (18 January). It is the only event of its kind to be held in Scotland during the consultation period and it has raised a lot of important issues.

EXECUTIVE CHEF OF TOP LONDON HOTEL SERVES SHETLAND SALMON AT ANNUAL LUNCHEON

SALMON FARMING INDUSTRY GENERATES ECONOMIC GROWTH AND EMPLOYMENT

SHETLAND SALMON FARMERS UNITE IN MAJOR AREA MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT

Nine salmon farming companies in one of the most complex aquaculture areas in Shetland came together yesterday (Thursday 22 August) to sign a voluntary Area Management Agreement (AMA). The document formalises a strategy to work closer together in all aspects of the fish farming process to protect the environment and improve the health and welfare of the fish.
